Snowboarder Superpark Report Day 2

Ongoing coverage from our man in the field, Blue Montgomery.
Pal Sorenson-HOLY FUCK. Break out the methometer.

Day two. Just got down from the mountain. 8pm. sunburned as fuck. Bluebird, but morning started slow because of wind. Afternoon super sessions heated up, as the wind died down.

Bunch of bigger name dudes here (landvik, arnold, gouldemond, to name a few) that are pretty much mini biking around.

Morning sessions were on the regular lines, same ol stuff. Unfortunately one of the capita / union riders from Sweden Jonathan Nilson got broke off pretty bad, had to take the sled down. Went to the hospital. Concussed, but ok. Nothing major which is good news. Brisse got x-rays this morning... nothing broken. Doctor said he could ride at the level of his pain. He got up there in time for the session to start on the big big jump from yesterday. New crew today on that one. Brisse b/s 7'd it first try and stomped. Heavy. Brisse ended up having a pretty good session. couple more 7's, and a couple 9's. Pat Moore is basically "Mr. Superpark." He can ride any feature as good or better than anyone else. It's crazy.

Two surprises today.

1. Bjorn Leines. He has nothing to prove. No reason to hit a 100 + foot step down that everyone is scared of - especially with his wife and 2 kids in the RV in the parking lot. Unlike the other bigger name dudes there, evidently he felt a need to confirm his legendary status. huge backside 180's, and a cab 3 that was perfect. Probably one of the harder tricks to do on something that fast and big. Much respect.

2. Brandon Cocard. This feature was closed, Bridges had to approve who jumped it, and he wasn't on the approval list. I asked him earlier if he had any interest and he said no, so I said ok! No more discussion. You don't pressure people into hitting something that big. Remember yesterday I didn't even want craven to hit it.

Anyway. He dropped after Brisse at the end of the session when bridges wasn't at the top and did a front 5 and went about 50 feet past the knuckle. So huge. I was really scared, thought he killed himself, ran down to the landing zone where I was told "he stomped it." ok. Next run, he did a frontside 1080. Holy shit. He has people around here talking.

Then - that session ended and everyone went to this hip. You guys are going to think I'm exaggerating... but the features here are just enormous.

Anyway... pretty good sesh. Pat Moore going huge, good to see Austin Hironaka ripping with styley grabs. One thing a bit surprising was that Paal Sorenson, our capita/coal/union kid from Norway had the highest air. He was boosting. I guess not a shocker since he got 7th at the Arctic Challenge and won the Hemstedal big air recently.

That's it for day two.

video grab of dustin on the big jump. Kinda hard to tell how big it is, guess just look at how small he looks.

  1. Again. I am going to say that this shit is wrong. This is not snowboarding. This is trying to kill snowboarders. That said, stoked as shit to hear about Brandon, Brisse,Scanners, and all the doods getting nutty on some big jumps. Kudos guys. Don't die. Please.

  5. Johan, this is the truth. They are paid to get rad, I am not paid to sit on my ass. Just that inner mom in me coming out. I hope they were wearing helmets.

  6. Its funny how snowboarders, skaters, surfers, etc... GO FOR IT more than any pro baller and I bet half these kids make less than me and dont have health insurance! They earn every dollar!

  7. I don't care about shit that ain't rad. Golf was on the other day, and the dummy said some shit like, "that was a courageous shot."

    REALLY? Courageous?

We know most of these shred doggs would be doing this for zero cash (and, compared to most pro sportlers--they ARE making zero)...and that's because shred doggs shred. Kids aren't wanting to be pro snowboarders for money, are they? That'd suck. I believe kids want to be pro snowboarders because that would mean they're getting radical like this. Sure, there are the jock dorks who are on The Bachelor and shit like that, but for the most part I think shreddios are into shredding...

I don't even know what I'm talking about though; I'll just repeat: HOLY SHIT.

  8. Golf is not a sport, it's a game like darts.
