Snowboarder Superpark Report Day 1

Blue's at Superpark and feeding us some daily updates that are pretty good. Here's day one:

Actually it's day two, but today was the first day weather allowed peeps to shred the big stuff.

Here's the recap.

For 80% of the people this was kinda ease into it day, check things out.

Jumps are big. It was blue bird, but very windy, which is scary when

you're that high up.

10% of the peeps were going for it and got completely broke off. I

saw some fucking carnage. Scott Vine did a double back flip mute -

to come up short - on the second biggest jump and just got worked.

Never seen a scorp that bad.

Haldor Helgasson got broke off too on the same jump, but I didn't see

it, don't know how bad.

Then, 10% of the dudes stepped up and got gnarly. Street cred.

Proving it. Professional style.

Brisse got hurt first run, first jump. One of those things. Didn't

look like much, just landed wrong. Gonna get x-rays tomorrow morning

at 9:30.

CAPiTA standouts were Sage Kotsenburg, Brandon Cocard, and Craven.

Sage and Brandon were ripping the big jump in the main line. Sage

is really impressive. For 15 it's ridiculous. Barring injury he

has a future involving professional level snowboard for sure.

The "SUPER SESSION."

At the end of the day, the whole crew moved over to this isolated

jump. People were calling it out as 100 ft. I don't know but it's

the biggest step down jump i've ever seen in my life. Biggest jump

I've ever seen period. HUGE. Dudes are going so fast, and are so

high up. I've never really been scared for the dudes before, but

this was one of those things where I didn't want Dustin to jump it.

Risk vs. reward it's not worth it. You're gonna risk walking for the

rest of your life for a shot in the mag? I probably would have tried

to stop him had i had the chance.

But you know how it goes. Dudes do what they want. Bridges said no

one but a group of hand picked veterans could hit it. Then a couple

of young hungry dudes slipped in there. Maybe 6 or 8 people hit it

out of the 150 riders here.

Dustin did the biggest frontside 3 I've ever seen over it. Stomped

no hands. He was proud of himself. I was proud of him. But still

fucking scary when he's dropping in from like 2 miles uphill.

Jonas really stepped up and got NASTY! He did the sickest b/s 7 indy

I've ever seen over it. So slow, so fucking tweaked. So sick. (you

know how he does those so boned out) people were fucking yelling

and cheering and shit. It was crazy. It felt like a sporting event.

Then he did it again and over rotated a bit and did like b/s 7 indy

to frontside shifty thing and brought it back.

I can't tell you guys how huge it was... one of those things, I

think you gotta see it with your own eyes to grasp the magnitude.

Real gnarly.

Overall, I'd give Jonas the MVP of the day award.

That's it from day one.

Jonas the bonus on fucking fire.

  1. I do not like the sounds of this shit that hey have down there in California. That shit is silly. Someone is going to die. But I guess that makes it "awesome". Glad to hear our gang is staying strong. I hope all the wounded recover fast!

  2. Nothing like a super park session to make me feel old.
