M.B.H.C.

More shred history from the Nose basement. This IS Craig Kelly's M.B.H.C. hat that I pulled off his head in 1995.
We drove from the Boat down to Vail to a Oakley super secret guest party for athletes and friends of the O at this bar Erics. Joe D organized that shit. Every O athlete on the team was there then. Craig, Vic, Downing, Dunn, Seth Morrison, Gabby Reese...etc were all mingling with the rest of us retards waiting for the secret guest to be revealed.
Dave Pinkerman drove us down and he posted up next to Reese who was a good foot taller than him and in awe he threw this line out "man you got a big nose." To which she face pawed him away. Dave had just done a North Cascades heli trip with Mr. Kelly and proceeded to introduce me to him:
"YO this is Craig, Craig this is YO."
"Nice to meet you YO."
"Yea, likewise Mr. Kelly. I'm a fan of yours. Hey, that's a pretty sweet Mount Baker Hard Core hat you got on. I'll trade you for this Volcom hat." Volcom was a new "cool" company way back then.
"No that's ok, I'm cool with this."
"I don't think you heard me Craig, we're trading!" As I pulled the hat off and put mine on his dome. "Thanks Craig."
I was a solid dozen beers deep at that time was feeling pretty confident. At that point the special guest revealed themselves as Porno for Pyro's and Perry Farrell was two feet in front of us, floor level belting out their set.
The evening ended with the music ending then all of a sudden a drum solo went down. It was Dave on the drums shitty pounding out what he thought was a solo. Dudes thru him out the door, we hung inside still mingling and he got pissed and tried to drive back to Steamboat. Which then he got pulled over and landed himself in the pokey, DUI baby!

I was at the party, it was right after the American Pro Snowboard Series stop. Remember Parry Farrell wearing a jump suit. Good times. Gab Reese was at the top of the pipe for MTV. Must have been around 94?

And then you ended up at my place in Breck, passed out with rotten sour cream shoved up your nose. Boy, you really have come a long way(?)

Not quite right right on that ending.Pinkerman was following me out of the parking garage. Were doing 30mph. I have to slam on my beakes for a sprinkler pipe that had been yanked down. I look in my rear view mirror to see Pink looking down at the directions to an after party. Before I can tell Matty B. to hold on my truck is totaled. Daves truck wont drive, I tell him to push it into a parking spot and we can take off in mine. (still drove) No, he calls the cops! Before I can bolt there on the scene. They heard the collision from outside. It's the 4th run in that night including the speeding ticket on the way down and it's the same cops that busted us earlier for pissing in public. I think were done for but some how I pass the sobriety test and Drama gets cuffed. I can still see him screaming in the back of that Saab cop car. Took all the next day to get him out. He goes back to Steamboat on top of a flatbed with Danni "Kiwi" Mayer. Who said he was never coming back to the U.S. after that. The good part was I used the insurance money to go helli in Valdez and I gave Dave some for his deductable. Only one of a million unforgetable Pinkerman stories.

    1. That sounds like a Pinkerman story for sure! Growing up with Dave there were a lot of similar stories like that, whether it was his white Toyota or his big blue one, that guy was gnarly. I miss that fucker, RIP my friend

    Hey,
I was a CLOSE friend of Dave Pinkermans in the 80s but lost contact with him. Could someone please tell me how he died?

I had a lifetime of these crazy memories with Dave, knew since 3rd grade and miss that bastard! Started snowboarding with Dave and watched him excell beyond the early days of the sport. He had a true passion for the sport.
Dave lived fast and hard and that's how we need to remember him, not how he died. I still remember this day even after 14 years. RIP my friend.

    1. Man oh man be fun to have him around still. All the old Steamboat bro's still manage to get together and ride once or twice a year, no matter where we live now. We're older, balder, fatter and ride way worse than we ever did, but still can heckle the fuck out of one another. I can only imagine what Pinkerman would be doing and bringing to the table today. Hope your well Jones. Glad you still come back to this as a rememberance of the one of the greatest. Love ya Pinky.

Try to every year YO, may not be here but always want to remember Dave. Ran into his brother at the Hurley contest this year, good to see him. The doors always open if you are in San Diego. We can catch a punk show and get some verga burritos!
