PLAYOFFS - game one

Ballard Knights vs Richmond Beach Bulldogs 10/21/2016

 

Knights showed up in the playoffs with a 3 - 3 record and the Bulldogs with a 4 - 1 record. During the first run of the game, Bulldogs scored in 4 plays and on the sidelines we knew the Knights had some work to do.  Going into the half the Bulldogs were ahead 20 - 6.

After the half, the sun started to go down and it became KNIGHT TIME. Thru the third and forth quarters they rallied back to a 20 - 26 score and got the ball back with two minutes left on the clock.

With one minute left in the game, Mac throws a bomb, Dominic catches and touch down.  Tie game, 26 - 26.  Mac kicks the field goal, boom 27 - 26 with 30 seconds to go.  Bulldogs push the ball up the field and on 3rd down, 10 seconds left in the game, they throw for the win.  Mac's playing safety and as he turns to make the game winning tackle, he slips out and misses. 

The Ballard Knights played the best game they've played all season. This was a total heart breaker.

So crazy how stressful it was on the sideline watching and trying to film the game.  Lisa and I were super proud of how he handled the defeat too.  First in line to shake hands and then sat thru the coaches speech at the end and waited till after the meeting when just his mom and I were sitting with him to let it all out.
