12 months

Yesterday marked the second time I've gotten all twelve months on the snow.  The season started for me Oct 18th, 2012 with the KindBro at A-Basin riding, his two Travis Parker dual swallowtails.  Then from there on in, it was pretty smooth sailing getting days every month, until September.  About two weeks ago I kept checking the web cams at Timberline but to no avail, the place was closed down.  I started to think it wasn't going to happen until the snow reports started to come in for Baker last week.  I told Milo on Friday "dude, we may make a sneak mission to Baker on Saturday or Sunday, depending on how much snow they get."  Again, we got hosed.  Baker is so freaking 1980's that there isn't a web cam to show snow on the ground, nor did I see anything on the www about what was going on up there.  There was no way in hell I was gonna drive the 3.5hours up there to get skunked either.  So here I was at C3, Monday morning, hands in the air, thinking to myself, "fuck me, this is like my 6th time getting 11 months in a row."  Then I looked at the web cams at Stevens and started to think that it was within my reach.  I rolled out of my third ever yoga class at 1PM, got a wild hair across my ass and just started to drive.  Called my wife, got heckled, but kept driving.  Got to the hill around 3:30PM, saw some dudes from K2 leaving the parking lot after a snowtoshoot for their catalog and grabbed my fixed gear like snowboard and headed to the hill.  A quick jaunt up the mountain bike trails that we rode two weeks earlier and I was far enough up the hill for me to claim September on the hill.  And now, X marks the spot on September 30th on my calender, giving me 91 days on the hill this season.
And on a side note, the INEFFICIENT mountain opened it's gondola today to 75 lucky people via their Facedildo page.  Pretty efficient of them, if I do say so myself.

  4. Gotta admit seeing old farts like you still possessing passion to snowboard makes me happy!

  5. checking back in to add all the internet freakers who are freaking about the TWENTY FEET IN FOUR DAYS AT BAKER are usually unaware that they're looking at forecasts for the big volcano, not the ski urryah.

Happens to me a couple times every year too, but still.
