Bah Humbug

For the past 3 years we spend the kids Christmas break at the cabin in Skykomish. Which is awesome as we get to get on the hill daily, but we live in a one bedroom cabin. By cabin I mean, it's only heat is a wood stove, so we have to deal with natures harshnesses once in a while and ruff it. And with the super cold temps that Steven's Pass has had the last week or so, that means we were without running water, toilet and shower for almost a week. So Merry Christmas to myself as I went down to the nearest town with a store (45 min) and rolled into Lowes. The place was cleared out of everything with the storms we were having, as for some reason people panic in the Northwest with any bad weather. I bought the last display model Pro Temp 125,000 BTU turbo heater to run underneath the house to try and unfreeze us. But before we could run it, the Pro Temp needed fuel, which the entire town of Monroe was sold out of. So off to the next town of Snohomish where I luckily got the last 5 gallons of kerosene left. Two hours on high and the pipes were clean. So I thought, till I tried taking a shower and it exploded on me. The wife brought up the broken handle part a day later and we were ready to roll. Back in the shower and boom, water going everywhere but out of the shower head. Two years ago we re-plumbed this place with Pex A pipes (that aren't supposed to burst when they freeze), except for two feet of copper pipe from the shower head to the controls. Of course that's where the water was coming from and J-Rad had done a sweet ass tile job last year on the shower. So thru the back wall on Christmas eve YO the Plumber went without an inkling of an idea on what or how to fix whatever was broken. But Santa came early and somehow a clue was delivered and the Stabbin Cabin is fully operational again.

Merry Christmas to all.

  1. Merry Christmas Malkoski's. I don't know jack about that heater, but for the love of god, make sure you don't carbon monoxide everybody. Odorless and colorless, ya know? I had a horrible tragedy happen to friends in Aspen over Thanksgiving and I'm super jumpy aboot this right now. Peace, Hefe.
