I pass this place everyday. Whole Foods or someone like that tried to buy an entire block right by the Ballard Bridge. One ole lady stuck it out, and told them to piss off. So they built the building around her. One little house surrounded by this massive concrete jungle. It's awesome.
If I lived there I would of put mirrors on all three walls. Would of lit that place up. Or had some tropical mural painted on the walls.
I wonder what's going to happen to the place now that
she's gone.
this was so sad... her family's not getting shit for that property now. too bad.

ReplyDelete"Not that it is likely to remain. The five-story structure going up around her home is being built so that Edith's lot can be easily absorbed into the development, said Kent Voter, a superintendent for Ledcor Construction at the site."
LEDCOR. The evil guys are called LEDCOR. Straight from a movie script. A shitty movie. LEDCOR.
PS- sicc blog holmz, thanks for the link. I done BEEN wanting to blog as a verb on this chick forever but I never did...
Paved over paradise and put up a parking lot. Except instead of Paradise, it's Ballard. And instead of a parking lot, it's condos with Quiznos's's on the bottom levels.
RIP Edith Macefield though, I feel this.
The rumor I heard is she left the house to the Superintendent of the project. And the new building is designed so that they can build out the space at a later date.
ReplyDeleteIt will be Trader Joe's and an LA Fitness on the ground floor. There is also plans for a similar development across the street to the south.
ReplyDeleteSo we're going to have a bunch of Prius fags driving in to get their organic latte's and pump iron?
